Kids are going back to school. Dark times. Here's some music to cheer you up and make you dance and maybe have a little moment.

Various Artists - PRB007
Anthony Naples runs Proibito, and he's just put the (growing) back catalogue on Bandcamp. This is the latest release, a four-track collection from four different producers. Alex Falk's 'Mitsuda' is a bit of a banger, swirls and whirs and a jacking beat. Hank Jackson's 'Mongoos' is deep, a battle for resolution never concluding. 'Sumba Togola' by Jackson Lee is an African chant reworked for heady clubs - not sure about it ethically but those beats, man. The last track is by Huerco S., working as Independence Ave Orchestra. 'Welfare', is vintage Huerco, especially those echoey synths, but the kicks are classic techno.
De Leon - De Leon
The latest from that clear-bag tape label Aught is a marvellous tape from De Leon. I've a lengthy review for that written that's due shortly so I won't say too much. All I will say is that it's recontextualised gamelan recordings for the tape sound of now. Excellent.
zK - Aethyr Jumpers
Maximum respect for Wonja for this one. She linked to a few Plague Recordings albums on a name-your-price basis, this one is exceptional. Abstract soundscapes with hints of melody, beautiful themes hidden beneath an expanse of noise, it's my jam.
Paper Tiger - Sonic Boom Head Zoom 2
Paper Tiger are a thrilling band from Leeds in England. It's kind of a live hip-hop band, but they take in influences from the UK and further afield at the same time - it's a big bundle of sounds and styles that they still manage to wrap up tightly. This half-hour mix is a live improv session, recorded in advance of the release of Sultan Ant Pop, what's termed as their second album but in effect it's a bunch of new tracks and vignettes alongside remixes from people like SertOne and LV. It's a big bundle of fun, and their rapper is as amusing as ever Raphael Attar: "I can do lots of things; I got a swimming badge."

Kamp! - Early Days (Throwing Shade Remix)
Throwing Shade is making quite a name for herself lately, with releases that are both housey and poppy, to be as reductive as possible. The is nowhere in between, a dubstep swing clattering under distorted solos and muted and reshaped vocals, while electronic flue-like sounds dance around in between.
Juno Plus Label Podcast - Tom Lea (Local Action)
Tom Lea continuing his fire run of mixes for excellent online publications this year with a great one for Juno Plus. There's a wonderfully frank and refreshing interview to go with it too. The mix is what you might expect - blistering electronics, instrumental grime and brilliant rap vocals (I CHOOOOOSE YOU). Yung Yamaneko even Think-BROKE Logos's 'Menace'.
outline.05 OL
More like OUTSIDER.05. Opens with Minor Science (the track I'd open sets with if I still DJed), features a load of cool stuff I don't know, it's wonderful. Murky. Dance, sucker.
WANDA GROUP - ENCLAVE, DOME AND EVERY HUMAN SHOULD SHUT THEIR MOUTH
This is by Wanda Group and it's got an amazing title. Even if I didn't like it I'd probably share it. But it's vintage Wanda. Seven minutes of fuzz and hiss above field recordings and whirs and that. It gets overwhelmingly loud at one point too. The compilation it's from is neat too, especially the recorder/clarinet collusion from memotone.
Deep Dish - Yoshiesque (Disc 1)
Nik from LPH shared this, great find. Sometimes you just want some old Deep Dish. Dancing In Outer Space. Music With a Feel. Under The Water. Tu m'as rêvé, et maintenant, me voilà. Tall Stories. All Over Your Face. BANGERS! There's even some Oakey in there, from back when he was good, etc.
Terekke-Yrlv
This one's tagged as #dusty house music, it's the opening jaunt from the latest LIES Black Label release. Utterly gorgeous. Swooning late-summer house business. I believe this one is hot property right now, so grab it while you can. The other tracks are just as good as this.
Travi$ Scott - Days Before Rodeo
Jack Law said Travi$ Scott has no identity as a rapper - this is on point. I listened to this mixtape and thought "Post-Yeezus". It's fantastic, but it's just all over the place in terms of vocal style and delivery. It's absurdly brilliant. 'Quintana Pt 2' is awesome, those Scarface-esque chords shifting key signature in truly offputtingly excellent style. 'Skyfall' is heart wrenching. And then it's got bangers and stupid lyrics and everything too. Essential.
Maxmillion Dunbar – Jubilee
Max D on Trilogy Tapes! It doesn't bang but it grooves. It's all "shhhh-shhhh" instead of "unt-unt". Make of that what you will, but check it out.
wonj - horns???
The aforementioned Wonja made this silly but nonetheless brilliant mix of, well, tracks with horns in them. Drowning in a sea of reverb, it kicks off with some old Big Tymers ish, there's Missy, Fabo, Yeezy, C-Murder, and then it finishes with 'SpottiOttie'! Speaking of which - OUTKAST ON SUNDAY COT DAMN.

Have a lovely weekend my lovely friends.
All the best,
