Good morning. Getting really excited for Unsound now, two months today...
knappy kaisernapp--roto
Nice four-track release that shifts between dolorous ambient and strange repetitive electronics, the outer fringes of club music mixed with notions of art and design. It still feels quite organic, however, instinctual even.
Bioroot - LIFTOFF
Three tracks playable here from a release of 12, it's a collection of material from Danish producer Bioroot. Slightly foggy house, but not in a pretentious or studied way.
A Year In The Country - The Quietened Bunker
This is a compilation album of music inspired by disused and abandoned Cold War bunkers in the UK. Weird instrumental music borne from imagined nightmares, titles are vague ('Lower Level Clock Room') and specific ('Drakelow Tunnels'). The Panabrite track is especially good, but the whole thing is a fascinating project.
Linda Buckley - Changeling
This is a stunning ambient/neo-classical piece of work from Irish artist Linda Buckley, whose work has been performed extensively in Ireland and abroad. This is striking, unnerving yet ultimately redemptive music.

Queef - The Monk and The Nun (Queef live 13.08.16)
While some of us went Out To Lunch in Dublin last week (and saw incredible sets from Call Super, Ben UFO and Lena Willikens, among others), some people went camping at the Monk and the Nun BBQ & Sleepover Camp near Mohill, Co Leitrim. It featured performances from Graham Dunning, Aine O'Neill and Morning Veils, and Queef. This is a lengthy trip through shattered electronic worlds and trippy, childlike melodies.
elisabeth @ ://about blank 06.08.2016
Berlin-based Elisabeth hammers it out here in this 4.30am set from a few weeks ago. Proper bangers here, electro and techno and lots of acid.
CM016 - TTB
Absolute hero Tabitha gets in the mix for Ceramics. Got some vibey house, then drastically shifts into that awesome Haram track I put in the second BC pod. Flies off in many directions, all of them wonderful.
OCTO CHAMP - Whippt - Evening
Belatedly coming to this one, it's a track from the CDR Dimensions compilation. Crowd chant, raspy synths, shuffling beats, it's a sparse groover. The description is great: "I've been trying to get a bit of that vibe you feel at a festival when you've woken up, feel a bit groggy, but plod through the day *just* surviving... til there's that moment when you hear a DJ play that track in the early evening which lifts your spirits and gets you ready to keep going." Halfway through a kind of guitar line kicks in and it really feels like that moment he was trying to capture.
система # 93 | MACHINE WOMAN
The latest in the система series comes from Machine Woman and it's soooo good. It's a half-hour live thing, utter weirdness that jacks.
botanik dreams #20 [Infinity Frequencies]
Shouts to Yamaneko for this. Infinity Frequencies make that soft mournful gloopy stuff that samples 80s new age and TV -mercials, heart-wrenching stuff that's knowing enough to leave you smiling through those wretched tears. This is an hour of similar stuff that gives you a glimpse into what inspires this singular producer. No tracklist, but SC users have IDed 1991 and Rene Hell, while I've spotted Rezzett and Levantis among others.
Hope you have a good weekend. I'm going to Westport in Mayo!
