Hello. Hope you didn't miss me too much. Dadcloud is back baby.
Bitflower Bb - Persephone 5/0
This tape (well, it's sold out) comes from Irish producer Dreamcycles. It's a series of songs that show her range, soft electronics that appear breezy while laden with dank undertones, her wordless vocals floating about.
Julia LaDense - Destinations
I opened up a Facebook chat window to talk to a friend with whom I usually communicate on WhatsApp and found the last message I'd sent him was a track from this album, sent two years ago. The track was a stretched, reverbed edition of 'Float On' by Modest Mouse; in fact, the whole album is like that, and it's gorgeous.
Kayla Painter - Auriga
This is such a nice release! It starts off with chopped up vocal experimental stuff, then drifts into languid territory, almost reminiscent of Dntel's Life Is Full of Possibilities.
Sage Caswell & Liam O'Mahony
Slumdiscs is coming to an end, and in closing, they're releasing this split tape from Sage and Liam (aka Hold MC). Sage's side is not unlike his album Hoop Earring from last year, moving back forth between ambient wash and scuzzy dance jams. Liam's side is more laidback, light tempos driven by a calming nod. The beats are there but the music is chilled. All in all, a lovely listen.
VA - Phantom Force (Chinabot)
Here we have a sprawling compilation that brings together artists from across Asia, countries like Japan, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan and Cambodia. The label aims to shine a light on artists working in both contemporary and traditional modes, so there's a truly broad spectrum of sound on display. Some crunchy electronic jams, some beautiful and engaging gamelan, oppressive sound art and melodic synth work.

Wanderwelle - Through The Meadow [SSV11]
Lost in a Sea of Trees tells the tale of a lone traveller who enters a dark, ancient forest. Lured deep into the woods by something not of this world as he enters uncharted grounds. Step by step his journey is getting darker as he encounters strange phenomena and beings among the trees... The first track shared by Silent Season from Wanderwelle's upcoming release, this one is a light and joyous house number with a brilliant back story.
Alien Jams Live at Tate Lates (NTS Radio)
Chloe Frieda played this incredible set at the Tate recently, imagine hearing this selection of strange music in an art museum on a Friday evening? Special shouts for that closing track by Hands, aka The Field. I had no idea?
ellen mynni - damfloc dizzypline
This is a nice klavier improv that's an antidote to a lot of the weirdness I subject myself to on a daily basis.
IMA - Thin Film
This is back to weird though. It's one of a number of tracks shared by sound art duo IMA, and it features spoken word, electronic crashes, yelps and clanking noise. Fun.
Jimpster - The Sun Comes Up ft Jinadu (Peggy Gou 6am Mix)
Speaking of fun (honestly), we all know Peggy Gou brings the bangers, but this one is a delight. Chunky, wobbly bass, stretched vocals, cowbell for days, jazzy synth riffs, it's got the lot. Certified groove.
LYSSNAPOD009 - Anna Kohlin (SE)
I came across this mix as Anna Kohlin is playing alongside DJ Sports and co in Stockholm soon. This was a guest mix for Lyssna Records, and it's strange in that it sounds very current while also harking back to a jazzy, breaksy era, maybe late 90s/early 00s? It's hard to say. It's a great mix, an hour of vibes that simply flies by.
That's it for now.
