Halllooo. Back to normal, I guess.
CMD - Lycan Disco
The latest on Jacktone comes from the wonderful CMD. It's called Lycan Disco, which is a superb title. It almost feels like a rave within a 90s computer game, for some reason DX-Ball 2 comes to mind. The sound is somehow both hollow and beefy. It's a strange effect but it's a success. And massive to shouts to Glenna aka Sold for the brilliant artwork.
Dean Hurley - Anthology Resource Vol. 1: △△
I can't not include this. A while back I mentioned the use of ambient sound in Twin Peaks. Well here it is, fashioned by Dean Hurley (no relation to James or Ed, I assume). Big shout to Cormac for bringing it to my attention.
Mike Slott - Mirror I Mirror
What a beautiful release. At just four tracks, it's a short album of musical meditations, but it's so lovely you'll just want to play it over and over. Originally self-released last year, this is a short run of tapes with beautiful artwork. Mike is also helping the label Colour8 with a new volume in of binaural ambient music, which sounds very exciting.
Endurance - Molecular Shrine
Another album of ambient meditations, this one comes from Japan-based Canadian Endurance. He's also a bio-ethics researcher. It's got some lengthy journeys, hazy tracks that stretch out across up to 13 minutes. The first time I listened was on the train on the way to work and let me tell you, as the train moved from the suburbs out to the coastline in the morning sun, it sounded sublime.

Jaime Sin @ WIP Pres Powder - July 22 2017
WIP's Ciel shared this on Facebook, it's recording of Jaime Sin's warmup from a few weeks back when Powder played in Toronto. It's a hugely fun bouncy house set. Lots of stuff I don't recognise, plus both sides of that incredible Sami release on Future Times.
Bobby Jewell - british summer time
Seemingly an ode to the lack of a British summer, this is a lovely ambient piece.
Dane Law - Digital Paganism Mix for The Astral Plane
This is something else, a chillingly brilliant suite of reversed and effected music put together for the Astral Plane's NTS show. Bits of The Wicker Man, bits of other things, it's haunting and fascinating and excellent.
Area - Dreamlessness
I first discovered Kimochi when I came across the UD rereleases last year, I think because of a Mix Mup remix. I've been quite taken with the label and its boss, M50, aka Area, ever since. He recently released some shuffling oddball jams on Idle Hands, and now he's back on his own label with these languidly affecting ambient visions. I was going to call them dreams, but look at the title... They're quietly arresting, particularly 'Pop Life', a collaboration with Eltron John. There's also a scuzzy remix from Donato Dozzy.
ANNA COOK - UNDERWATER PHONECALL
100% Silk shared this track with the sad news that the artist had passed away. Anna Cook, who was based in Santiago, was an avid fan of the label and became a beloved pen pal. This lovely crunchy number is due for release on a Silky compilation later this year.
Peace.
