Apologies for my tardiness. Music for reflection, resistance, rejuvenation.
Luciernaga - Live in Charlottesville (//7)
Late last month, Luciernaga played a gig in Charlottesville VA, exhausted from working on a paper about the conditions that led to Chile's first fascist organisation. It was a quiet, languid set. A few weeks later, well, you know what happened. He's shared this set with a dedication to those resisting racism, fascism and nationalism. Any proceeds are going to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
VA - The Last Sense To Leave Us, A Tribute To Pauline Oliveros
Here we have a compilation inspired by and dedicated to the late Pauline Oliveros, inspired by one of her last performances. A group of artists created tracks that "reflect both Oliveros’ own wide-ranging talent and the influence that her work has had upon their own practice". It was originally released on Rural Colours, and now it's out again on Unknown Tone. There's no point in picking a "favourite" one of these sweet, beautiful pieces, so I'll just tell you to jump in at the start, lay back and let them wash over you.
Kyle Landstra - Vestige I
This is an incredible passage that achieves a lot with its restraint. If you can imagine a Roly Porter record that never reaches his typical euphoric and melancholic climaxes, this might be what you'd get. It's a slow-burning sequence that stays low, bubbling with intensity yet eschewing easy resolution. Every release on this label is in aid of the respective artist's chosen charity, and Landstra has picked Project Fierce Chicago, which seeks to create affirming transitional housing for LGTBQIA+ youth. A wonderful choice.

Caroline Park and Asha Tamirisa - Live at the ICA Boston 5.28.15
The date gives this one away but it's beautiful and timeless. Asha Tamirisa is a doctoral student at Brown and Caroline Park is a composer from Rhode Island. This collaboration sees them drift hazily from shimmering melodies and drone passages to nascent bleeping and undulating flows of sound.
ella guro - flowers
Aidan Wall reposted a track by this artist so I went to their page to check out more stuff. This one is a dainty, folksy jam that's like a jammed video of a sunny summer's day in the countryside rendered via audio only.
Wilted Woman - Live @ Curbit 2017
Here we have Wilted Woman's live set from the recent Curbit festival. It dances back and forth between tempos in her uniquely wonderful fashion. Lots of fuzzy squawky noise.
akemah360 - Afro All Day
I can't say much about this artist, bar that she's based in the US, but this is a fun mix of her favourite Afro and tribal music.
kazuma kubota - wasurenagusa
Amethyst Sunset are giving Kazuma Kubota's 2015 cassette release Utsuroi a vinyl reissue. This track begins like a beautiful ambient wash, before drowning in harsh, painful electronics, not unlike the relentless twitches of Objekt's 'The Stitch-Up'. It's genuinely head-spinning stuff that I was not in any way prepared for.
Munitum 045 - Hydrangea
Finally this week, enjoy a fresh mix from French dub techno artist Hydrangea.
