Lunchtime tunes.
tim32 - Radiotrilogy 3
These three "stories" about radio signals seem to last forever as you're listening. Lots of radio noise and hints of synth and melody, it's a strange and beguiling piece of work.
WINDY & CARL - BLUES FOR A UFO
Veteran droners Windy & Carl released this selection of tracks to raise money for The UFO Factory in Detroit, a kind of social club of sorts. The surrounding lots have been bought up and the venue resisted pressure to leave, only for a cement truck to accidentally crash into the building, causing dangerous structural damage. The place is closed now, condemned by the city. The music is a gorgeous swirl of guitar feedback drone, as fitting the name of the bar in whose honour it's recorded. You can read more about the music and the bar's saga on the Bandcamp page.
RLW - Funeral Parties
I saw someone tweet excitedly that Musica Moderna were on Bandcamp so I checked them out. This is their most recent release, and it mixes field recordings with subtle electronic sounds. Amazing.
Nadia Struiwigh - Lenticular
Chuck Pee bet me I'd put this in, and he was right. CPU is known for its otherworldly electro, but this is on another plane. Nadia Struiwigh seems to blend guitar and electronics in a completely new way, melodies and ideas clashing and colliding to form unexpected delight. It's almost new-agey at times, psychedelic trance mixing with thundering beats. The sci-fi stomp of the closing track is a highlight but honestly, sit with this one for a while. It's great.

boson spin - duax ub as"eicir [part 6]
Ambient meanderings, the conclusion of a series.
Little Movies - Oisín (WINO-003)
More excellence from the Winos. Part radiophonic part techno warmup.
Loren - Service Mix 4 smartbar Chicago
Ahead of the next Service party at Smart Bar (that's tonight!) Loren put together this succinct half-hour mix. It's a nice mix of house and techno, everything unfamiliar to me bar one track from The Other People Place.
Byron Yeates & Eoin live at Shivers
Shivers residents Byron Yeates and Eoin shared this recent recording, the last two hours or so of their all-night set at the Galway night. It's a great insight into the DJs and the party. Nice house and techno punctuated by some Frankie Goes To Hollywood. Fun!
TMI_DJ - "lmfao nice thanks"
This mix from Tim Jones of Time No Place was recorded with one deck and an iPhone. And it bangs! I don't know any of it but it's great fun.
Orphax - Dream Sequence #4 (excerpt)
A short excerpt from a forthcoming drone piece that's coming out as a 3" CDR.
Have a nice weekend, enjoy the Bank Holiday, UK pals.
