November is alive for better and for worse.
Suzanne Ciani - Probes: Electricity
Cool compilation put together by Suzanne Ciani for Finders Keepers, who are putting out her unreleased Help, Help, The Globolinks! performance. It's got some cool weird sounds that range from strange sound effects and experiments to slightly jazzy soundtrack fare, not to mention the proto-ambient vibes of Emerald Web's 'Photonos'. It's also got a track by Daniela Casa, two of whose tracks I used in my Spooky Mix (#plug).
Yakui - Moon
This Pittsburgh-based artist got in touch with me to share her work. It's indescribable really. At times it combines what sound like guitar licks with airy, breathy sampled vocals, while elsewhere scattered beats meet squelched synths that dance from side to side like something out of Lewis Carroll. The impulses seem to be driven by hip-hop, techno and TV nostalgia, but maybe I'm reading too much into things. I love it anyway.
/ - Hystereofônica Vol. 2 (Tropical Twista Records)
Shout out to Abel for sharing this with me. It's a compilation of Brazilian music built around the theme of resistance. There's percussive house, screaming techno, breaks, some kind of synth pop and tech house that isn't for me but that's the thing about compilations – someone might like those and hate the breaks, for example.
Jax Deluca & Phong Tran - Tardigrade Soul
I previously featured something from the Surfacing label in the shape of Kyle Landstra's Vestige I. This time we hear from Jax Deluca and Phong Tran, the latter of whom runs a great Twitter account in the shape of @boxwalla. This one is in aid of ISER Caribe, which is dedicated to emergency relief in Puerto Rico. It's a grinding, swirling bed of noise that moves from heavy vocals to cymbal-laced feedback and distortion.

Flora FM & Finite Lifestyle - Amphibious Highway Relief
Here we have a brilliant slice of jumped-up, 90s-indebted techno. Flora FM recently tweeted: "I don't think I can make tunes below 130 anymore. Just don't have it in me." With results like this, I'm not mad.
DJ Eliot - Worldwide FM // 04-07-17 // 90s electronic ambient
This autoplayed after the above track and whatever you want to say about algorithms, on this occasion the system worked. DJ Eliot has a monthly show where she focuses on a different style each time, and this show focused on dreamy 90s ambient techno. Lush.
Vague Terrain 06 // DJML (live set)
DJML coming through with a stellar live set. Imagine the bristling percussion of last year's FTD record with the thrilling humour and invention of Errorsmith and you're some way towards the guts of this performance. Big stuff from Dan.
AZURA - Paraíso '89
With nearly 9,000 plays in a day I hardly need to share this but it's a lot of fun so why not. Gorgeous Balearic feelings, sultry piano, wistful arpeggios and mournful licks, it's a magnificent track! Perfect for November....
upsammy - Wish I Could Still..
This one came out in September on a compilation from Nous'klaer Audio. I just came across upsammy as she's playing alongside Call Super and co at a big event at De School in Amsterdam next month. This track is part 80s horror synth, part modern chug, full emotion. Retro styles, modern sounds.
Roofhare - You Put Soot in my Food - NaviarHaiku200
Here we have a track that was inspired by the following haiku: "We've explored miles / Drive until the light gives / Drive the day away." It's quite artful and abstract, strange sounds creeping in and out, patterns flowing, noises attacking.
Going to see Avalon Emerson tomorrow, my first time in the club since... August I think. Shocking stuff.
