Bit late! Sorry!

Jodie Lowther - Skeleton Moon
Here's a nice album of slightly weird spooky electronica, with gorgeous floating vocals drifting over delicate synth melodies. Somewhere between Christmas and Halloween.

kindred spirits - the dread of being
Seriously strange and creepy noise. I can't put it any better than this, so I won't try: "Behold: kindred spirits invoke a sonic seance, perfect for use in abandoned houses and ancient libraries. A disquieting collage of haunts, pulsing rhythms and insidious drones. Prepare the circle, relax and feel your eyeballs roll back in their sockets."

Gail Priest - Heraclitus in Iceland
"Everyone goes to Iceland to make an album these days and Gail Priest is no exception." That's not quite true, but the opening line of this album's press release shows a sense of humour often lacking in the serious world of field-recording. The tracks move between base, seemingly unvarnished recordings and more abstract use of sound, metal dragged and looped, bass adding texture, synths singing and chirping like digital birds.

Nasty Noise - Junk
This is trash. Literally. It's an album of clanking noise, inspired by (and possibly recorded with) the detritus of our world. Tracks are entitled 'Junkyard Crane', 'Rusty Gates', 'Iron Landfill' and so on and thud rhythmically with metallic collision.

SoundCloud playlist

UMFANG - complete your collection
Weird looping jam from Umfang, which, at the time of writing, is free to download in wav form. It's a bit silly, it's hypnotic without being heavy, it's a perfect DJ tool.

TR One - The Boutique Of Neverending Dreams
Cool new one on DBA from Irish act TR-One. The whole release is nice, but this one has a weird bass line that's not what it should be, and it's got a incredibly catchy main riff that pumps along nicely. Top groover.

TTM:046 - Akash
I couldn't not include this one! Akash put together an hour of slow jams and dembow riddims with more of 'The Boy Is Mine' than you'll have heard in the past two decades. That's no bad thing of course. Plenty of rnb, grime, footwork, sick blends and more.

Mark Loughrey - Before I Was Awake (Rachael Boyd Remix)
Mark Loughrey is an alt-folk singer from Belfast. He's just put out a new album calledTreppenwitz, which is the German word for staircase wit, and he shared this track with me. It's a remix of one of the tracks on the album by fellow Northern Irish artist Rachael Boyd, in which she softly ramps up emotional drama by giving the track an ethereal air.

madam data - miniature neurocosmos 41
Choppy, noisy stuff from Philadelphian madam data. A single tone, relentlessly manipulated across six minutes. It's calming and energising, blissful yet chaotic.

nocturne_ - Dismantle
Bandcloud mixer nocturne_ just dropped this super track. It's a wonderful tread through trippy percussion and some soft yawning pads. Intricate and absorbing work.

DJ Aakmael - What Iz Deep House
Tech house and deep house have both had their names tarnished. This track answers the question of its title. This is deep house. Pitched-down vocals, unresolved chords that dance around the beat, kicks with heft and riding hi-hats. It's from a release on Scissor & Thread that also features a remix from Frank & Tony, which also answers the question.

List season has begun (it gets earlier and earlier!). The Bandcloud Juno Plus tribute shall return for 2017, but not for a few weeks. I'm very excited for it! I hope you are too.
