List season 2016
Okay so here's part two in this Juno-inspired look back at 2016, from DJs, label heads, writers and friends. Lists, words, thoughts and reflections.

Barry Redsetta (Major Problems)
I bought more new records than old this year. Despite that, here are five 12"s I was pleased to find in the bargain bins of three shops in Dublin, aka smug list 2016.
Ralph Lundsten 'Discophrenia'
Thomas Melchior 'Let's Go Deep'
David Emmanuel 'Giving It Up For Love'
Mr Fingers 'Stars' (1992 version)
Bedouin Ascent 'Ruthless Compassion'

Ben UFO (Hessle Audio, Rinse FM)
I've revisited this mix by Hunee, compiled to celebrate the Be With Records re-release of Air's self-titled LP, more than anything else this year. Perfect music for the in-between times, elegantly compiled.

Tom Lea (Local Action)
Dear Bandcloud,
This year was fucked — personally, professionally and politically. I don’t mean fucked in the sense that it was all bad for me, in many ways it was the best of my life, but there was a lot to take in, and it was all hard work. London feels like an unsustainable nightmare that’s eating itself and I - as well as many of the artists I work with - dream of getting out, but then I just moved into a beautiful flat with my beautiful girlfriend in a (mostly) beautiful area, so why am I complaining?
Musically the label made its biggest moves yet - we released a classic single and a classic album by Dawn Richard, which is the sort of thing I thought we could only dream about, and seems to open a new door every day for us (usually with a clueless industry dickhead behind them), but in a way it just makes me feel that it’s more vital for us to release records by underground weirdos who otherwise might not have a platform. But then I look at the sales figures and realise I’m probably being stupid. I want Local Action to do massive, popular things and cult, niche, obscure things at the same time, but when the latter often takes up the same amount if not more of your time then balancing this whole circus really becomes a struggle.
Anyway, this is ridiculous. I felt like this year went at 100mph but we're hardly saving lives here. Hopefully we enrich them from time to time. In a year that seemed to have most people questioning everything, these aren’t necessarily my favourites of the year, but the ones I found myself relying on to stay sane. R.I.P. Juno Plus.
P.S. Special shout to Joe Yamaneko, one of my best friends who makes music that is truly appropriate for our time. He’s destined to be a cult artist rather than a star, and he’d probably get a lot more hype if he was some kid bringing the woke club music dawn to Twitter rather than someone who wouldn’t dream of shouting about their music on social media, but he’s one of a kind. He had a disaster of a personal year, but I couldn’t feel more honoured to release and help facilitate his music.
Yamaneko - Project Nautilus
D∆WN - Not Above That
67 - Let’s Lurk
Mist - MIS to the T EP
ATCQ - We Got It From Here
Stranger Things OST
Kanye - Pablo & Dark Twisted Fantasy
Daft Punk Essential mix
Relaxing Final Fantasy IX Music YouTube
T_A_M - Silk/Sweat FM mix
Xinlisupreme - Tomorrow Never Comes
Jammz - Warrior

Tony Poland (Juno Plus)
Although there have been plenty of albums and singles I enjoyed this year, I don't think 2016 has been an amazing year for music in these formats and I've gravitated more towards podcasts and mixes. However, a list of my favourite episodes of Seincast is a bit too niche, so there is this instead.....
A list of musical discovery through the medium of variable bit-rate mixes that proved inspirational in this most heinous of years

So there you have it.
After nearly three years I'm still shocked that people want to read these mails; all I ever want is to share music with you, so I'm thankful for the opportunity. I'm also hugely grateful to everyone above who gave their time and energy to this project.
