Jessica Ekomane (@jessica-ekomane) really impressed me with her track "To Whoever Shall Inherit the Earth", which featured on the Urban Arts Synthesis Vol 1 compilation last year. Born in France, she's now based in Berlin. Her work is inspired by such subject matter as German expressionism, sex work and Ballard, as well as more abstract notions of space and technology. She has won numerous awards and has presented her work in countries such as Germany, China and Australia. She recently took part in a discussion on the role of women in electronic music that took place at Kantine am Berghain.
The mix she's made for us features sound recordings of marginalised voices, musique concrète and intriguing modern songwriting. It's short, but nonetheless fascinating.
