Back with the first Bandcloud guest mix in a year! What's prompted this return? Who knows.
LXV is David Sutton, a Philadelphia-based artist who first came to my attention when he released Sirens, a collaboration with Kara-Lis Coverdale. He also refashioned a track for Emily Berregaard's Hallowed release on enmossed.
He's put out something like eight solo albums and a series of EPs/singles/shorter-form releases since 2014, and contributed to the much-loved Blowing Up The Workshop mix series, as well as the “too new to be classic” Beyond/Below series.
This mix features strange and beautiful music from Mira Calix, More Eaze, Sasha (but not that Sasha), Coil and many more artists, most of whom are completely unfamiliar to me. There's an almost even split between haunting melancholy and Italian dream house, perfect for the gorgeous liminality of this particular season.
