After a run of mixes from New York, this month's entry comes from my home city. Minos is a producer based here in Dublin. I first came across him through the First Second label, who I believe put out his earliest work under that name. He's made a name for himself playing live sets in Dublin and other Irish locations including at the Cork Sound Fair and the Open Ear festival. The mix he's put together for us opens with the closing track from Violet's forthcoming album, leaping from blissful ambience into understated electro. He weaves together music new and old, with a few tracks of his own alongside music from Fear-E, Radioactive Man and the unmistakeable sounds of Anthony Rother. It builds to a close with the classic sounds of CJ Bolland and some unrelenting acid from the late Andreas Gehm. It is a trip. It comes ahead of a release for Don't Be Afraid — no solid date on that just yet but it's due in the coming months. I can't wait to hear it.
