New mix! This one comes from Kev Cahill, the man behind the wonderful Power Moves Library. Initially a "Label", it switched the Library late last year. The releases are all on tape, limited run, and downloads are free. My favourites have been from Missing Organs (him again), Sealadder and Nate Scheible. Kev also writes fascinating free-form thoughts on music at Rotational Review. This mix is weird and great. He accompanied it with a small amount of text, and provided the above image. Thank you Kev!
Bandcloud Mix - July 2016 - Power Moves Library
"First ten or eleven minutes is a collage of unreleased and newer recordings from my Running Point and Downer Canada projects. The pieces sit nice together in a free-flow way, though maybe a hair on the downer side. The microcassette recording of Clifford Brown and Max Roach's ‘Daahoud’ is especially lo-fi but I think it fits.
"Then I mixed some vinyl continuing with the collage-motif, mind the crackle. It jumps into some folk/country slow-down blues and starts off turtle-paced but deceivingly/sneakily catches a second wind.
"Hang in there. First thought was best thought. Really hope you enjoy."
