Guest mixes here are few and far between these days. This year has been tough for all of us in different ways and the last thing I wanted to do is hassle people into providing free mixes. SHE Spells Doom and I have been in conversation for a long time though and it's a pleasure finally to be able to share something from him. He's a Zambian artist who makes experimental yet tough electronic music. He's released singles and EPs as well as appearing on compilations from Never Decay and All Centre this year. He's also a dab hand at reworking old tracks in his own way. Check his Bandcamp for those.
His mix is a delight, starting with some old instrumentals — from 80s synth pop to early 00s US and French rap — into a non-stop thread of hard-hitting club music. There are tracks from recent weeks and months as well as serious jams from recent years, as well as some of his own aforementioned releases. It's refreshing to hear a mix so well put together that doesn't rely on promos or classics. That said, the closing track is a welcome delight, Romanthony's timeless 'Hold On'. It sounds as relevant and important today as ever before.
