The Leaf Library is a London-based outfit that specialises in "drone-pop / not-rock" — a sort of ambient-leaning sound that is as much emotive and heart-rending as it is languid and methodical. They most recently featured in the mails for their Monuments triptych, three releases from solo members of the collective. Earlier this month, they put out a tape entitled About Minerals on the lovely Inner Space Travels label.
This mix, put together by TLL's Matt (aka Basic Design), is a tread through all the familiar tropes of the ~ambient~ world — think modular tones, uncomfortable drones, emotive guitar, strange bleeps and vocal samples taken from lectures. Familiar, but nonetheless striking and wonderful. It features a bunch of stellar artists, tracks gently flowing into one another other, forming new worlds and sounds. Get lost in this on a hazy day in a field. Maybe read some folk horror and think about the land.
