Hey. We've passed the 100 mark, it's probably boring to talk about it at this stage. Part of the outsider establishment at this stage, right?
Trium Circulorum - Silent Surveillance
Trium Circulorum also records as 3dtorus and featured on a Cities and Memory compilation last year. This is a tape for Still Heat, a young label that featured the great Joseph Curwen last year. Obviously it's good, or I wouldn't have featured it, but one of the tracks is called 'Room 101' so it fits. Long, weird drawn-out techno stuff.
Hellvete - Woven Skull split
This split release from Hellvete and Woven Skull on Makrame is half gentle guitar and low drone, half celebratory gamelan and communal ritual.
AGF - >i*ru~im[]+=o.\<
This is quite weird, I'll admit. It starts with some spoken word abstraction, and moves into a whirlwind of dark art and expansive sound. 'greim x92' is the best.
VA - Absence (Flaming Pines)
Absence is a forthcoming compilation on Flaming Pines curated by Arash Akbari. Its focus is on experimental music from Iran and features 12 tracks from artists like Umchunga and Akbari himself. I'm looking forward to hearing the rest.
Maoupa Mazzocchetti - Laugh Tool LP (MNQ 080)
If you like Beau Wanzer's recent stuff you'll like this. Clanking noisy EBM stuff.
Club Time Session 3: Lovers Rock Mixed by Ital
Ital drops a sick mix of stuff from his Lovers Rock friends, albeit stuff that will largely remain unreleased he says. And the DJ Wey track is coming out on Proibito. Curious. The Lovers Rock sound is part dub techno, part emotive trance, 100pc banging.
LING — 44 Blue (Codes 03)
I've been wondering what LING's been up to since he dropped that killer mix for Truants two years back. Here he returns with a track for Codes, the joint label from PAN and Visionist. It's post-club-bass-whatever, but with real character and humour.
Zalys - The Nebula's Wishes
This makes me swoon with its yawning synth stretches. Glorious ambient with tinges of melodic blips. This is from an album called Sublime, available on Bandcamp, and I would recommend you go find that if you like this.
Juno Plus Podcast 130: Borusiade
I'll stop sharing Juno Plus Podcasts when they stop being so good. This one from Cómeme affiliate Borusiade is packed with body-shaking gems, new and old.
Yu Su - Soon (moa Mix)
This track, from the Genero label, is a nice and breezy house track with a sweet sax solo. Sax is cool in 2016 right? I'll play sax on your track. For a fee.
Stefan Jós [Opal Tapes / Flau] All City Mix (ACM014)
The latest All City mix comes from Montreal-based Stefan Jós, who's put together a super mix of house and techno. Malory's 'Dah' is one standout, as is 'Heidi Sabertooth's Drum Mmachine Jam'. And that's without mentioning his Where To Now? label-mate Beatrice Dillon, whose rambunctious 'Face A' makes an appearance towards the end.
TTB012 on NTS feat. Klein (live)
TTB's show on NTS is one of my favourites, as she always unearths tracks that seem to whisper from ghostly passages, as well as some stupidly good house bangers. For this edition she has a live set from London-based Klein, whose sound is hard to pin down. She's a singer who plays with vocal manipulation and sampling, heavy sonics and covers, and she's inspired by Kirk Franklin and Brandy. She comes across really well in the interview, with infectious character. I love how she chats away mid-performance too.
I'll be recording a radio show/pod past this weekend, get at me for shouts.
I know you're thirsty for shouts.
