Hellooooo new followers. Aurora's mix was great, right? Deservedly getting attention far and wide.
Dale Cornish - Ulex
This isn't new as such, it came out on Entr'acte late last year, but it's new to Bandcamp. Good man Dale. Each piece is a study in patience, teasing out similarly repetitive rhythmic patterns with a variety of sounds and instruments.
Bridget Feral - Desiring Machine
Fearful wails and creeping sub-bass. Crackles that feel like your headphones are shifting about in your pocket, frayed from use. Pounding kicks that lead and frenetic claps. It starts off dark then gets wonderfully weird and playful with its vocals, particularly on track three, 'BODYCHAOS', which lurches and stomps about with chopped-up utterances.
Noumeno - The Phantom
I spotted this for sale in Bleep's tapes section. Found it on Bandcamp. Muted techno oddities, post-meltdown scrub dragged through speakers and rewired for the dance.
Noctilucant - Pain, Plague and Pestilence
Okay so I was initially tickled by the title of this release, and the blurb that "Noctilucant is a cinematic dark ambient project with apocalyptic themes of ruin, loss and despair". That said, the music, while impressively droning, isn't as dark and/or oppressive as you might expect. It's all swirling ambient though, not quite blissful, but soothing and comforting in a warm bed on a rainy day kinda way. Until it gets to the closing track, which is proliferated with the sound of invading flies.
Mary Lattimore - At The Dam
Mary Lattimore steps up from the humble (and brilliant) Kit Records to the powerhouse that is Ghostly International. More stunningly beautiful harp work, albeit with a touch more electronic effects at play. Really lovely stuff, like those TV ads where someone falls down on to a cloud in their sleep.
glyn - Behind Schedule
Eerie techno weirdness, with amazing art to go with it.
null + void with Kirsti feat Shelley Parker, 29-02-2016
Kirsti Weir's show is always full of exciting new music, largely unreleased, and on top of that this month she has a guest mix from Shelley Parker. Parker's work is often noisy and abrasive, and there's a bit of that, but it gets really energetic too, with tracks from LCC, U, and even two tracks from Ploy's recent Hessle release.
Alis - Pieces
New track from Alis, the first from her in some time. Blends the choral layers of herThings Next Door EP with the rugged stomp of her DBA releases.
Wildlife Radio - GLOBETROTTERS – FEB 2016 – [ANU AMBASNA]
Wonderfully varied mix from Anu Ambasna of London's Equaliser crew. Starts off quite morose, gets really fun with old funk and soul.
Snufmumriko - Mukul | Warmth Remix
Yamaneko shared this with me, saying "Hey I heard you were a fan of the best ambience the world has to offer". He undersold it if anything.
Have a great weekend! Love to you all.
