Hi. A few extra bits today to make up for last week's poor show.
Sarah Davachi - Dominions
More modular delights from Sarah Davachi, whose Qualities of Bodies Permanent last year was really quite special. She specialises here in playing with "obsolete" machines, but unpacking that particular part of the blurb is for another time.
Benoît Pioulard - Thine
Gasping at how lovely this is. Just melt away. <3 Robin, thanks for the tip.
Null - Null
This is a reissue of a release of something from 1974, "the No-music, the Least". Genuinely sounds like any and everything from nowadays, which says a lot.
Bret Schneider - Melancholia I & II
Mammoth double tape release here. More weirdo electronics. What you want really.
Silvia Kastel - THE GAP
Gorgeous thick and chilling ambience from the label that brought you that incredible tape from Pan Daijing last year. Recorded in Berlin and Miami last winter, poles apart.
Burnin 4 luv mixed by Ahu
Wicked mix from Ahu, an Iranian producer of many aliases, pushing a new record he's got out with Vlad Caia and Lenta. It's full of smooth and understated house.
Valesuchi - Jungle Yuki
This is a gem. It comes from a compilation on the Peruvian Surrounding Label, which aims to highlight South-American Women In Electronic Music. The whole thing is a mixed bag, some of it isn't to my taste, but this track is sublime. What's really cool is that the label has got a pic and a short bio for each artist involved on its Facebook.
Miss Roisin Murphy - Mastermind
THAT'S MISS ROISIN MURPHY TO YOU. Loving everything about this campaign, from the artwork and costume to the title, and of course the music itself is impeccable too. Starts off dreamy and spacey, moves into an unsettled vocal, then hits the floor. Killer. Just like taking candy from a baby.
memotone - Sideward
memotone just put out an album but this is the first thing he's shared on SoundCloud in some time. Lurching back and forth, this hazy number is a far cry from the taut screams and florid jazz of Chime Hours.
12th Isle Forecast 004: Izabel Caligiore
Thanks to Juno Plus for sharing this one. Izabel Caligiore is behind Lullabies For Insomniacs, a record label that evolved out of a radio show. This mix features haunting synth melodies, strident piano and clarinet, rippling waters and new age flute. Neat.
Shedbug - Afternoon Dreamin'
From a new tape on THRHNDRDSVNTNN. An inspired vocal sample about the freeing release of doubt, fittingly dreamy synths and twinkling melodies, there's a lot going on but it's tied together beautifully.
Kirsti Recorded Live at Love Love Takeover Bangface 2016
HEAVY mix from Kirsti Weir live at Bangface last week. Special Request kicks things off, there are two Sunil Sharpe tracks in there, so, well that should give you an idea.
These Feathers Have Plumes / Isnaj Duj - Split
I tweeted about this but it's so good I have to share again. Was Ist Das just dropped this split tape from Andie Brown's These Feathers Have Plumes and Katie English's Isnaj Duj. Two gorgeous sides, perfect Bandcloud stuff. There are still a bunch of tapes available too, if you're into that.
Do you like the sound of my voice: Y/N? Let me know if you'd like to hear it.
PS: If you haven't seen my Seven Plays feature for Truants, in which I detail my listening habits for a week, check it out.
