Good day. IT'S NEARLY MAY. What's up with that.
CLINTS - Live at Wharf Chambers, Leeds (2..016)
A special performance from CLINTS, aka Leon from Chrononautz — a seasoned performer, this was his first ever live solo show. No noticeable jitters, it's solid, weird and never less than intriguing.
Teresa Venezia - We will never be modern
Really nice short release from Teresa Venezia — I googled her and found a Teresa Venezia who works at an environmental engineering firm in Pasadena. It might be her, it might not. These four tracks feature delightful electronics, slightly housey, drifting ambient and so on. The final track is my least favourite, but she has another track that I think would slot in its place perfectly.
rkss - Top Charted
First Where To Now? I've featured in a while, but rest assured the label remains as essential as ever. Cells, the rkss tape for Seagrave, was absolutely superb in its consistent variety, and this is even wilder and more eye-opening. WTN? have also just announced releases from Machine Woman and Melly, like they care about your finances.
Heather Celeste - Prisme
Blindingly good techno project. The 15-minute first track simply flies by, a plodding, droning effort that carries you along , and the next two tracks, in two parts/sides/ variations, the latter featuring murky vocals, are just as unsettlingly powerful.
Clearwing - Earth Day Mix • 2016
Earth Day is perhaps a twee concept around which to base a mix, but this is a real gem. You've got your usual ambient favourites — Eno, Burial, Grouper — but it's all tied together quite beautifully.
Privacy Radio Ep 7 - w/ Nina (V I S / Golden Pudel)
There's an unexpected moment of silence a few minutes into this — at first I thought my connection was bogey, then my phone. I feel like this won't be for everyone. It's unsettling and noisy, quietly chilling in its looped and twisted electronics. That said, I'd you all to listen so as to give yourself an unusual sonic and physical experience.
Campfire Stories 16 (Light of Spring) by Roger Gerressen
The Campfire Stories series from Silent Season is always unmissable. I listened to this one while doing some gardening last weekend. It gave me a sense of energetic calm.
JASSSSin - Fin
Really nice plodding dark housey jam. Dank but pumping.
Helm & Decimus - Saved Alone, What Shall I Do? (Excerpt)
Weird music on Opal Tapes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
D∆WN - Honest
Another killer track from D∆WN, this one from a collaborative project with Kingdom, due soon on Fade To Mind. No words, just play, repeat, love.
I've been forgetting this lately, but here are this week's tracks in playlist form.
I haven't listened to #Views yet.
