Hello new friends. This normally goes out at 11 on Friday but I've been a bit busy this week, as you might have seen, plus my work party was last night. Ahem. Usual drill involves four Bandcamp releases and six SoundCloud posts.
VA - Secret Map . (untergang-institut)
This is a massive compilation from the slightly strange untergang-institut. It features artists from across the world, some familiar (Wilted Woman, Via App, DJ Richard), some unknown (to me: Fyoelk, tnkwai, Karim Waxteen). Naturally, the results are varied, both in style and quality, but there's so much here you'll definitely find something for you.
ISSHU - Greyscale
Seagrave puts out so much music it's often hard to keep up, but this release from ISSHU really grabbed me. This is muted and murky dance music, as per the title, but lo-fi house it is not. '404' is a mournful, bassy jam, and 'Birdcage' is really quite lovely.
Albin & Mika - Pseudo Solo Session # 1
This release on Swedish label zeon light — "Pretentious music for Pretentious people" — features tracks from Albin Johansson and Mika Forsling, one solo track each and three collaborative jams. It's all slightly emotive synth music, with a beautiful theme running through 'Solen står högt' (The Sun is High). 'Gryningsljus' is my highlight.
Dane Law - My Heart Will Go On And On
I hoped this release from Dane Law was a Paulstretched version of 'My Heart Will Go On', and I'm both relieved and disappointed that's it not. It does feature beautiful, wistful electronic, "digital shoegaze" as he calls it himself. Name your price.

Motion Cast Vol. 9: Occo
Another great podcast from Motion Ward! This is from Occo, who's a really lovely Twitter presence. He also recently put out his own tape. This is a tread through jungle, I don't even know how obvious or obscure tracks are (though of course I 'member 'Incredible'). Warm and heady and banging, it's sure to make you move, or give you indigestion.
Reclaim Your City 203 | Anastasia Kristensen
Copenhagen-based Anastasia Kristensen put together this two-hour mix for Rinse France's Reclaim Your City show. It's a thrilling ride that starts with bright open synthscapes and moves into rough, heavy techno for days. There's a track around 75 minutes in that is pure nightmare fuel.
BIZAARBAZAAR #33 / SYBIL JASON
This is a wild mix by Sybil Jason of the Farced blog. "A moody soundscape akin to the current climate of the world," she says. It moves from Aphex Twin to Tanya Tagaq and Lucrecia Dalt, Ciarra Black to Cherushii (RIP). Dark and angry, yet bright and cleansing.
ornamental hermit - #3
Weird creeping darkness that ends up in weird psych territory. Found via Good Genes. No info on the artist though, so lemme know if you know.
KS Podcast 2: Bill Kouligas
Jack Murphy enlists Bill Kouligas for the second Knowing Something podcast. Bill Kouligas of PAN is a real polymath, an artist and curator of such singular vision that his label and personal output are genuinely unlike anything else. This was broadcast on NTS in April and Jack has raved to me about this show, a strange mix of mutant dancehall dub. That enthusiasm has given it a new life as this podcast. Out to Jack!
CHASTIC MESS - Vacant-DX (W - I 05)
This is a cacophonous mix of crashing percussion and sinister melodies, a playful lullaby turned into a rallying cry for destruction. Full release on Bandcamp too.
If this is your first time reading this, I hope you found something new. Thanks for your interest. Please stick around, tell your friends!
If you've been around a while, thanks for sticking with me.
