If you're at Sónar you'll probably never read this. I'm okay with that. This week we have an EXCLUSIVE for you though. It's in the Soundcloud section below.

Hildur Guðnadóttir - Mount A
This is a really interesting instrumental album from Icelandic cellist and singer Hildur Guðnadóttir. Apparently it was released when she was using the moniker Lost In Hildurness, which is a pretty cool name I think. Anyway. It utilises a raft of different stringed instruments, and hints at mournfulness and heartbreak. She's got new stuff out soon too.
Mike Weis - Don't Know, Just Walk
This is a rather beautifully poignant release. A solo record from Zelienople drummer Mike Weis on Type Records, it was recorded after he was diagnosed with cancer. Its title comes from a Zen Buddhist approach to life - I think "just be" is an apt summation - and the tracks are full of noise, drone, field recordings, monks' chanting and more. It's quite breathtaking really.
V/A - Alice Sketches
What a shock, another Digitalis release featuring here. Mainly because they release great stuff. This one seems to have more to it than I can take in right now, but it's fully explained here. In short: Cody Yantis, Nathan McLaughlin, Josh Mason, and Joe Houpert got together and put together an hour of sketches, the results of which feature on this tape. These were then explored and refined and the Line Drawings album came about. Then a series of 7" records were made, and then a series of paintings of the people involved. Okay. This music is abstract and experimental, as you have probably come to expect. "These are the debris fields from which greatness emerges. This is the blueprint from which monuments emerge. Sketches can become masterpieces if you listen close enough. "

PHNCST158 – Kevin Reynolds (Nsyde, Transmat)
Wicked live set/mix from Kevin Reynolds, who last showed up on Don't Be Afraid's Dubs sub-label, remixing Kelpe. It starts off with a moving cover/rendition of Frankie's 'Your Love', and features his beautiful 'Liaisons'. Get to know.
Maxmillion Dunbar - Gorilla Bliss 2 DJ MIX
Max D here with another Gorilla Mix. Starts off with shuffling hip-hop tones, and almost immediately switches it up for wicked house. Comes with brilliant tags such as #scope #vision #excitement #mental #true #i fear the night. It also features sporadic sampling of Roland Clark's 'I Get Deep' vocal, which is always welcome, as is some Pharoahe Monch.
Lone - Reality Testing
I really loved his run of tracks and singles in 2011 but the last album did nothing for me. This is lush though. Yeah, lush. I went there, and unashamedly. Bask. There's a bit in 'Coincidences', after the tempo switches from balmy and lazy to a more danceable shuffle, where a vocal comes in that's reminiscent of Mylo's 'Sunworshipper'. No looping, but there's something about it.
SertOne Rinse FM x NOw FUTUR Guest Mix 07.06.14
Man like SertOne did this hour-long mix for Rinse France, featuring ~internet~ tracks and remixes and a bunch of his own stuff, some of which is on his forthcoming MouthfulEP. Out to "Sairtwan".
Inkke - Thinkk Star (Club Mix)[from LOC016, Crystal Children EP]
Inkke's got an EP out on Local Action next month, and it's a monster. This one is pretty sprightly, with frenetic beats and eyebrow-raising synth lines. A nice taste of what's to come. What about that artwork too.
Magda - Recorded Live 05/05/2012 (fabricfirst Archive)
Magda's playing fabric soon, so the club has dug out a set of hers from 2012 to whet the appetite. Robotic techno and electro, as you might expect. Jamming.
Be Honest - The Humans Are Coming!
Be Honest is a solo project of Ian Maleney's, somewhere in the world of field recordings and generative composition. This latest upload is a lengthy mish-mash of recordings taken at the Drop Everything festival on Inis Óirr and subsequently cobbled together in Ableton (his words, not mine). Actual field recordings, not plucked guitars with field recordings balanced in the mix, actual field recordings. It's a fascinating capsule of a brief moment in time. Ian also wrote a beautiful piece about the festival for The Quietus, which is well worth reading.
Juno Plus Staff Mix Vol.1 - James Manning
Juno Plus may be attached to the Juno website but they're remarkably independent in terms of their writing. They've just kicked off a new series of mixes, the succinctly titled Juno Plus Staff Mix. James Manning (aka Tea & Techno) is behind Vol. One, and it's quite something. He's gone for an instructional approach - no show-offy mixing, just allowing the tracks he's chosen to breathe in order to let them demonstrate their worth fully. Not only that, but he's written 700 words detailing his feelings for his various selections. Eric Holm’s Andøya album is a recent favourite of mine and there's a track from that right in the middle of the mix, as well as tracks from Felix K, Fis and a load I've never heard of. I look forward to really digging into this, and to hearing mixes from Tony Poland, Scott Wilson and more.
Alis - Nuttrs Jam
A brief, spacey jam from Alis. Only a minute in length, I'm hoping it's cut from something greater, cause this is ace. Seems it's been up there a month but I only noticed it today when I saw her tweet about it. If it's not on Twitter it's not real, that's what I always say... Not really. Or at all.
Tinashe - 2 On (DJ Q Remix)
Tinashe is a really great, underrated pop star in the make. Here DJ Q puts his pop garage slant on her latest hit. Not really much more to say other than that. Perfection.
Chrononautz - Sunset Fumes (Bandcloud EXCLUSIVE)
Aaaand here it is. The first exclusive. A lengthy workout, this is all analogue wizardry and live synergy. Written on hot muggy nights in a studio above a garage, it's partially informed by the fumes coming from below, hence the title. It's one to get lost in, deserves to be let play out on the floor. I'm not going to say it's a journey, but if that's the inference, well, you know.

Did you make it this far? It feels like there's a lot here. But trust me, it's worth it.
All the best,
Aidan
