In a few months I'll be 30 too! The days are already becoming shorter and I'm looking forward to buying a nice, fetching winter scarf.

Alexandre Navarro - Hozho
This was originally released in March last year, but the artist has made everything on his Bandcamp free. Lilting guitar licks swamped in reverb, it makes for some
gut-wrenchingly emotional stuff
Maurice's Hotel Death / Petals split
Dark, hissing fuzz. This account somehow popped into my life twice last week, so that's cool. I'd also recommend the Maurice's Hotel Death's Front Desk at the Museumrelease, although careful when you're unzipping it, that's a bloody long track title.
Sublamp - Lianas
Untold beauty, quiet stillness and gentle wistfulness. 'Bramble and Thorn' is like an even more staid 'Svefn-g-englar' or something. Then it gets all dark and sinister. Discovered via Brad Rose's newly revived Isolatarium blog.
Summer 2014 - electronic & ambient sampler (pa--o-ish)
A selection of free offerings from Projekt Records, I particularly dig the various Steve Roach tracks. Dive in.
KISSY SUZUKI - Sandymount
Gorgeous drone slash field recording from lovely Sandymount in Dublin. That said, I've only really been there in summer and this was recorded in January so what do I know.

Machine Woman - Express Your Loyalty To The Tribe You Live In (no vocals)
Okaaaay so in short: this was made for a competition run in conjunction with the Dimensions festival in Croatia. A call for field recordings and samples went out across the globe. These recordings were then made into sample packs and artists were asked to make tracks that used at least five of these samples. This is Machine Woman's effort. I don't recognise any of the names of other artists who've submitted but oh well. This one is really good. A barrage of crashing percussive sounds,
Beatrice Dillon 'Carrier and Mask'
I swear, not a week goes by without Where To Now? posting up about a new release that I desperately want. I kind of hate the label, on that account, since they're bleeding me dry. Next up is the wonderful Beatrice Dillon, someone else whose work I've really admired this year. Check out her recent BCR show too if this one takes your fancy. It's a kind of dance track made for an awkward dancefloor where people don't know how to dance or interact with people, the varying sprawls of sound transmitting a sort of barrier to understanding and elements of standard club tracks popping up in obtuse, gated fashion. Quite brilliant.
Objekt - Ganzfeld
CLICKBAIT ALERT. This is a new Objekt track, forthcoming on Leisure System. You've possibly/probably seen it shared a lot on social media. It's phenomenal. A friend suggested the other day that Objekt is, on a technical level, the Best Producer Ever. I can't argue with that at all. Everything sounds so Perfect. That said, it's not entirely clinical, it's got real heart and mind to it as well as robotic precision. Flawless victory.
Jhené Aiko - The Pressure
Similarly perfect is Jhené Aiko's voice. It's gorgeous yet precise. This song is dope, one for beaches and barbecues but about something real at the same time.
Dntel - If I Stay A Minute
Dntel! Remember him? Went on to form The Postal Service with Ben Gibbard? Well he's back, in Pog form! Okay, not quite. This is an intriguing prospect though, FACT noting its footwork influence and rolling juke pulse. That said, it's still got that decidedly Dntel quality, with virtuoso synth flourishes on top of all that.
Kate Carr - Broadcast
Chilling, rain-soaked sounds from Kate Carr of Flaming Pines. Quality as always.
Halls & Richard Formby - Farfisa Revox
Wow. What? This is some transcendental shiz. Swirling, shimmering, all the synth clichés, it's sublime. There's a lengthy blurb attached, but just listen and sink into it.
A.R. KANE - Long Body (Photonz R.E. FUCK)- free download
Another masterclass in swirls, as Photonz tackles some A.R. Kane. Speaking of Photonz, he was just on the UTTU NTS show alongside Lobster Theremin, playing a bunch of good stuff. Some reet cheesy 90s guff, some outsider house, jams all.

Hope you're enjoying festival season out there.
All the best,
