Goodness, there was a lot going on this week wasn't there? Welcome to another guest edition Bandcloud. Here's what I had time to check out.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Iko - '83
Superb classic minimal synth album, finally being reissued by Medical Records. Here's ataste.
New Panabrite! Stars of the Lid meets Excepter meets Tangerine Dream. Melodic organ drones underneath erratic modular blips and water sounds. Spacey and cinematic, perfect nighttime music. His Pavilion LP will be out on Immune later this month.
I know Aidan wrote about this tape for Truants this week, but I was going to include it anyway, and it bears repeating: this is really good. File under gamelan techno.
Listening Center - Cycles/Other Phenomena
Relaxing disco-y analogue synth album in the vein of Ghost Box / library music.
Chicago Skyway - EP Fall Down
Solid batch of hardware dad techno from Chicago Skyway on Hakim Murphy's Machining Dreams label.

Radio Cómeme - "Sentimental Flashback" 22 by Lena Willikens / Lena Willikens @ Red Light Radio 04-10-2014
I completely love Lena Willikens' selections. She consistently delivers on her Sentimental Flashback show on Radio Comeme, and this week we get a great mix of phenomenal 80's and 90's japanese music, featuring the likes of Seigen Ono, YMO members Ryuichi Sakamoto and Haruomi Hasono, Studio Ghibli favorite Joe Hisaishi, and of course Geinoh Yamashirogumi. Made me really nostalgic for Japan listening to it. She also did an amazing set for Red Light Radio, slowing it down a bit with meditative rhythms, awesome vocal tracks and some finger piano and steel drum content. Both highly recommended.
2014-10-05 - Berceuse Heroique (KEMAΛ) - Numbers, Rinse FM
Two hours of acid, mordant techno and a killer closing song by Minako Yoshida from Gizmo of Berceuse Heroique. Tracklist on mixesdb.
Brandon Nickell - Skyline (Ge-stell 02) [preview]
The Bay Area's own Brandon Nickell has his Skyline EP out mid-October on Ge-stell and you can hear a couple previews here. These tracks are eery and slow-building, and put me very much in the fall mood. Excited to hear more. The video for the title track is bonkers.
NE161: Objekt - "Destination Flatland" Mix
TJ Hertz aka Objekt puts together this edition of Needle Exchange for Self-Titled Mag, saying he wanted to outline his musical influences leading up to and during writing his extremely anticipated album Flatland, out on PAN later this month. Really enjoyable, varied, and fast-paced mix touching on a lot of genres including EBM, ambient, IDM, electro, and of course techno both modern and finely aged.
Farewell, Forever - Ning Nong (Raspberry Bulbs)
Raspberry Bulbs drummer and brilliant Instagram user Ning Nong comes correct with this dark, witchy mix for Farewell, Forever, featuring a reading of horoscopes if you're curious about your astrological sign's luck in love.
Fresh track from Helena's upcoming EP. I remain totally in awe of her ability to hone in on a niche sound and consistently produce unique contributions. Having just seen her at New Forms Fest and marveled at her DJing prowess, I'm more amped than ever to hear more from her.
Mikael Seifu - Tuff Ruff
This has been on repeat all week, and it keeps giving me chills every time I listen to it. Echoey Ethiopian folk singing and mournful lute shredding over a shaker and booming kick combine in the most heady way, bringing the listener to another place.
UP#22 This Dream Gave Me a Diagonal
Diagonal presents 90 minutes of gritty goodness in this pod past for Unsound including a bunch of upcoming stuff from Blood Music, Powell, and Consumer Electronics. Prepare to be concussed.
darklord - Il Suono Scuro: Direct to Video
And finally, even though the weather in SF has been stuck mostly in summer mode and the leaves aren't changing color yet, I've been feeling quite in the fall mood. If you'd like to join me, this mix of VHS rips will help you to do that. (There's 5 other soundtrack mixes in the set if you can't get enough!)

Phew! Hope I didn't talk your ear off with this one. A wonderful weekend to you all.
All the best,
