Back in the game. And utterly overwhelmed by the volume of new music to get through! And it's all so good! Lucky you guys eh.

Different Fountains - The Snake
This is sublime rolling vibey techno, prime Hessle Rinse show fodder. Both sides feature rumbling percussion, gloriously repetitive melodies and "eyes down" vibes, but the second one - 'That Snake' - goes deeper, with a heavier kick and vaporous vocals from Ciska Thomas of Bright Entity. Reminiscent of Meeker's 'Save Me', a bit. Also, the artwork reminds me of that for Call Super's Depicta/Acephale*.
Lief Hall - Voices
This was self-released digitally last year, and Phinery are reissuing it (and Hall's other release,Transform) on tape. This one is a spine-tingling layering of voices, phrases repeated and emboldened by slightly offset additions as the piece moves and grows. You can hear the full release here while you wait for the cassette.
OGRE - Gradients Live
WOI. Fuzzy dainty rugged synth improv workout, recorded in one take on to an old Mozart tape (see here). Moves from staid drifting patterns to militaristic rhythms, like watching spacecraft preparing for launch or an undercover drug bust in an 80s exploitation movie. Evocative, to say the least. I think I have Matt Nida to thank for sharing this one. Thanks Matt!
Lena Deen - The Acanti EP
Stellar Remnant - Red Dwarf Vol 1. mixed by EVLD
Speaking of Matt, this release from LA-based Lena Deen is along similarly spacey vibes to Matt's Explorer release from last year. These tracks are lengthy epics - apparently, at least; no digi available. Sadly it works out at about €30 to ship the record to Ireland, which is heartbreakingly, prohibitively expensive for me. I've also included a hefty mix she did with Ed Vertov, showcasing records available from their label/store.
SHM Podcast #32: Tears of Truth by DR
This is gorgeous - a recent podcast in the Shimmering Moods series, this is an hour(ish) of soft, gently bliss, with lilting piano and heart-stroking strings. It was apparently put together during a sleepless night, thus adding an extra level of pathos, I think. There's a new SHM podcast up since, and it's just as good. More ethereal, but still great.
ideoforms - Windows Startup Sounds (slowed 4000%)
"How's About This For Some PC Music?" quipped superstar producer/pet owner Ed Gillet on Twitter. This is twee but delightful. As a friend said, "pretty much everything sounds great when it's slowed down to that degree", but this is really hitting me in the feels. I can't even remember what the individual startup sounds are like, but I'll take this forever.
Shape Worship - Tamesis (Vision)
Ed's not just a witty face: here's the opening track from his forthcoming album, A City Remembrancer, due in October on the label that brought you Laura Cannell. Tied to and inspired by his native London (Tamesis is an ancient name for the river Thames), the album is built of field recordings, vocal samples, and of course Ed's own marvellous studio work. Don't forget that there was a Shape Worship track on that Bandcloud Christmas comp way back when - we're big fans. And not just cause he let me sleep on his couch one time...
awp & V8 - shear algorithms
A while back I tweeted a link to this SoundCloud account. She's still got good stuff coming. 'Shear Algorithms' is a jaunty and playful synth workout. Summery. If anyone knows anything about her at all get at me. This SoundCloud page is all I've been able to find.
Livia Giovaninetti - Anthropos
Lengthy sonic abstractions from this France-based sound artist. Not worth trying to describe really. More work available on her page.
Karmatic Dreams - Master Version - Serpentine {Mastered by John Ov3rblast}
Sumptuous deep techno, this. There's a work-in-progress on her page that's worth checking out too.
Mitamine Lab - ML150: Roger Tellier-Craig
I love how each entry to the Mitamine Lab series features a couple of pieces of art, be it painting, sculpture, light installations etc. Roger Tellier-Craig's edition features some 18th-Century still life - a lobster, some fowl and some fruit. The mix is more futuristic - scuzzy synth workouts and gentle electronic tones from the likes of Actress, Helm, Devon Hansen, Caterina Barbieri and so forth.

*I was thinking of including CS's latest release, Migrant, but I've been so inspired by it that I'm going to write a full review. Will share in due time.
Phew. There we go. Those mixes from De Leon and Kit won't listen to themselves too...
All the best,
Aidan
