Good morning. Pretty certain I'm actually dead and this is all a dream.
Hz - Dolby Vivisol
Hz of Third Kind wanted to get a quick tape out, so he did just that. Here are some acid techno jams he recorded this year and last.
Julia Kent - Asperities
This is a really haunting release, harsh, discordant cello, plucked and drawn, mixed with droning electronics and found sound. Sure what else. The cover is excellent too.
Cities and Memory - Utopia
The Cities and Memory project divided a map of Thomas More's Utopia into 30 pieces, divvied them up and then put together some pieces of sound art inspired by these segments. Some personal highlights include the dull thud of 'Utopian Shores' from 3dtorus, the Suspiria-esque whispers of Eric Boivin's 'Amaurot Soundscape' and the train swoosh/strings of Richard Fair's 'On The Seas of Utopia'. Hear even more here.
Eating Flowers - God Was A White-Tailed Deer
The blurb under this release describes it as "unbelievably direct music that dials right into the hippocampus" and I can't really argue or say any more. I've been finding it really hard to stay with anything for very long today but this is a delight.
Southfacing - Make Way For The Young
Rory Gibb shared this one on Twitter with the following blurb: "RIYL sensory deprivation, Kranky, falling asleep, waking up." If you're like me you probably like all of those things so this will be a delight to you. Foggy.
Diana Berti - Learning To Live Alone
No idea who this is but it's a super chasm of electronic noise.
En: "City of Brides"
En came to my attention recently when I discovered their 2012 release Already Gone. These three tracks are a taste from their next album, due next month. 'Awkward Paws' not only has a wonderful title but is gorgeous in its glistening beauty. Rumbling, body
Leisureware - No Kicks Mix 2
Leisureware compiles another lengthy beatless mix, featuring unknown gems and recent favourites from the likes of Mood Hut's Slow Riffs.
Jlin - Nandi
Rumbling, body-shaking rhythms from Jlin. Twisted vocals, multi-faceted percussion, divergence from standard 4/4, it's perfect.
Bruce Tobin - Fill Me In Acid Crew (Remix)
Mashup alert. Craig David's 'Fill Me In' over 'Sumo Acid Crew' by Palms Trax. Props to Bruce, whoever you may be. I actually went and listened to Born To Do It after work yesterday, those tracks still go in, let's be honest.
DIAG026 Not Waving 'Get Serious'
Did you see the incredible press shot that accompanied this yesterday? My word. Hilariously awkward. The tune, however, knows what it's doing, no messing about. Pummelling beats and synthetic cowbells and effects, it's a riotous squawk.
Blah. I'm still sick. Poor me, etc.
